Not many of you will know this, but one of my first jobs, at the age of 17, was working at The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction in Bowness-on-Windermere. I’m sure this is a contributing factor to why Beatrix Potter has been a great inspiration for my stories, not just because of her beautiful illustrations and tales that immerse you into the lives of animals, but more because of her immense and self-less contribution to the conservation of our beautiful Lake District. Because appreciating nature and wildlife is central to all the stories and artworks that are still bursting to come out of me. And if I can inspire others in any way, to connect with nature more than they already do, and help protect our environment, then I will be very happy.

I’m constantly being encouraged and inspired for my storytelling. Including from famous characters such as Paddington’s Aunt Lucy, Peter Rabbit and a very shy Forever Friends teddy bear. But most importantly, curious wildlife 🐇 And homemade scones for afternoon teas here and there, are also much appreciated. #peterrabbit #paddingtonbear #foreverfriends #paddingtonauntlucy #childrensstories

My new direction. Something changed in May. Rather than stating what I wanted for my future I instinctively knew that instead I should be asking for guidance. This quickly turned into me following a path that was quite different to what until then I had been envisioning for my future. It led me to connect with nature on a deeper level. And this new direction is so much more true to me.

And so over the course of the summer, after a lot of observation of nature, Inspired greatly by Beatrix Potter, I shifted my creativity to telling stories about animals. With my first Story coming very soon in the three languages closest to my heart.

And one day I hope to be able to create an impact on the preservation of nature as Beatrix Potter did.

M is my Minimalist Art persona, who started out creating Minimalist Watercolour paintings, quickly moving on to exploring how simple lines can result in interesting artworks. More recently she has decided that to be a true Minimalist she shouldn’t be creating anything physical, so this is what she is currently working on. Obviously this post could be understood as something physical, but for now this is how she will be sharing her explorations. She encourages you to interact with sunlight whenever you can, observing the shapes and movements of your own body in the shadows it creates 🤍#minimalism

I thought I would show you my Art Personas’ beginnings:
1. Willameena, The traditional artist, 2017
2. An early watercolour painting from the “Without Humans” series
3. Galaxy Sparkle, The designer, 2017
4. Her first piece “Sunset Inside a Frame” made with re-used items
5. MELOU, The creative child, 2017
6. One of her first paintings, “Perfectly Packaged After Hockney” Mount made from an old cereal box
7. M, The Minimalist, 2018. Depicted with her obsession with mountains made from simple lines, in this case strips of paper
8. M’s very first painting “Snowy Mountain - Dusk”
9. Lady Able, The “doodler” illustrator, 2019
10. “Coffee Cup Square” the very first artwork of my 6 personas (7th September 2017)

What I learnt yesterday blew my mind and so I chose one of two mainly vintage and second hand outfits and went out into nature. And this reminded me of the vision board I recently painted to remind myself what I want from life, with so many mini paintings being about getting outdoors and enjoying nature 💚

Lady Able enlisted the help of Galaxy Sparkle, the designer, and Willamina, the realism painter, to create an inspiring workspace for her.

6. Willameena working on 18 inspirational loose paintings for the Daydreams and Dreams “wallpaper”. An inspirational vision board, including an image for each of my six personas , plus lifestyle dreams.

8. Wine was needed at this stage 😅
9. Course of action notes
10. Colour mixing. Acrylics are annoying, they dry too quickly!
11. A bit of DIY to build a support
12. Artwork ready, support ready
13. Some more necessary skiing
14. And finally, the first “Daydreams and Dreams” is in place

The reason I haven’t been posting or painting much. A year I would rather forget. With too many moves, too much paperwork and too much stress. Wow! Am I glad it’s over!!! And now to paint and share ❤️

1. Atelier coming along nicely… testing easel location with a very old unfinished painting study
2. Landscape hunting close by
3. Same as above
4. Fitting in some sketching here and there
5. Landscape hunting further afield
6. New home also coming along nicely with family heirlooms
7. Being stalked by a dog all the way from the IKEA cafeteria
8. And breathe! That sea fresh air and sound of the waves

An old #jasminelillebyart watercolour of sardines, a #tatemodern franz west print and some sparkle. Another of my creations from a few years back which includes a Galaxy Sparkle charity find necklace, an unfinished copy of a whistler sketch and a potential floral arrangement still life oil painting … struggling to know what to do! Being an artists isn’t just creating, one of the hardest parts is making decisions, at least that’s what I find.
